In a significant development this year, the esteemed National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela) has been chosen to organize the central seat allocation process for undergraduate programs across 31 NITs, IIEST, 26 IIITs, 3 SPAs (School of Planning and Architecture), and 36 GFTIs (Government funded technical institutes), collectively known as the ‘NIT+ System.’

The responsibility of conducting the central seat allocation for the NIT+ system has been entrusted to the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB), while the Joint Admission Board (JAB) will oversee the process for the IITs. For the “NIT+ system,” the seat distribution will be based on the common rank list (CRL) of applicants in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), whereas for the IITs, it will be based on the common rank list (CRL) in JEE (Advanced).

The registration for the JoSAA rounds of seat allocation will kick off on June 19, immediately after the announcement of the JEE (Advanced) results. Subsequently, the CSAB-Special rounds will commence on July 31 after the conclusion of the JoSAA rounds. It is anticipated that the counseling process will be completed by August 14, paving the way for classes in the NIT+ System to commence on August 17.

Additionally, the CSAB will conduct separate supernumerary rounds for admission to supernumerary seats in selected NITs for the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, based on the JEE (Main) rank.

Furthermore, the CSAB-NEUT rounds, scheduled from June 26, will allocate seats under the scheme of ‘Reservation of seats in Degree Level Technical Courses for States/UTs lacking such facilities in the AICTE-approved institutions’ to candidates from the North-East states and Union Territories. NIT Rourkela has duly informed about this initiative.

To ensure convenience for students, the entire process of choice filling, seat allotment, and document verification will be conducted online. It is estimated that approximately 2.5-3.0 lakh JEE (Main) qualified candidates will register with the CSAB for admission to around 40,000 seats in NITs, IIEST, IIITs, SPAs, and Other-GFTIs. Notably, 20 percent of the seats in NITs are reserved for female candidates.

The upcoming CSAB-2023 and JoSAA-2023 events at NIT Rourkela mark a significant milestone in the central seat allocation process. The institute’s reputation for academic excellence and infrastructure makes it an ideal host for these prestigious events. With seamless online procedures in place, students can now look forward to a smoother and more convenient admission process.

This year promises to be an exciting one for aspiring students seeking admission to renowned technical institutions across India. The NIT+ System, under the guidance of CSAB and JAB, aims to provide deserving candidates with ample opportunities to pursue their dreams in engineering and architecture. As the registrations commence and the allocation process unfolds, let us wish all the students the very best in their endeavors.
