The entire course and on top of it the centers, invigilators would be quite a scary feeling. It would be so awesome if the pattern changed and we broke from the normal boring to something exciting!
Well, the good news is that the Central Board of Secondary Education has given such a breather to all the students, teachers and parents, that it seems like an unbelievable situation. There’s going to be a two-term examination pattern. This means that the board examinations will be conducted twice a year. They will be split into two very simplified formats. The first part will be MCQ-based/assertion-reasoning multiple-choice questions. While the second term will be totally descriptive.
We all have suffered at the hands of the pandemic in one way or the other and educational institutions have agonized worldwide. A lot has gone to waste in the past year but now we will make the most of it. A lot of students lost a precious year, while others kept hovering between offline and online. Online was relatively a new concept and if a year ago anyone would have said that school education will not involve schools anymore, he/she would have become the laughing stock to many.
The effects of the two-term concept need to be minutely looked into. It may seem like just another plan. But if we look closely, it is one of the most wonderful ideas that will make a huge difference, in not just the academic growth but we will also witness an overall development. There was a time when right from students to teachers to parents, there would be gloom and stress around the board’s time. Parents would be in an all-time tense mode whilst their children would be preparing for the exams. With this fresh plan, progress is inevitable. Students would be so thorough with their topics/subjects in the first term that the second term would actually feel like the easiest task to excel in.
In the past year, we all saw the significance of ‘online’ classes. There is another learning pattern that has been fairly known for the last decade, but it got its place in the spotlight in the wake of the pandemic. And that learning is called ‘Hybrid learning.’ So apparently, Hybrid learning is an approach to teaching and learning that combines face-to-face classroom instruction with online activities. Although mostly used interchangeably with ‘Blended’ learning, there’s a subtle but important difference between the two. In my opinion, in a ‘Hybrid’ learning environment, online learning is meant to replace an element of the in-person class. The online material is designed as an alternative to in-person material and is meant to bring flexibility to the learning experience.
