All universities and higher education institutions have been advised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to adopt and use CUET scores for undergraduate program admission. Several colleges are still employing the outdated approach of Class 12th marks or separate entrance tests, according to a recent letter from UGC to higher education institutions.

According to the letter from UGC, “UCG invites and encourages all State Universities, Deemed to Be Universities, Private Universities, and other Higher Education Institutions to adopt and utilize CUET score for admission in their UG programs.” This will spare students from taking several entrance exams that are held on different days, often concurrently, and will also provide all students from various Boards an equal chance.

The registration process for the CUET UG 2023 examination has already begun, and it ends on March 12, 2023. Registration is being handled by the National Testing Agency (NTA). On the official cuet.samarth.ac.in website, students can submit applications online. The test is probably going to commence on May 21.

A candidate may choose up to six domain subjects in addition to the General Test and one or two languages. Depending on the number of applicants and subject preferences, the test will be given across a number of days in three shifts.

For admission to the undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses, the University Grants Commission (UGC) introduced the CUET last year. The UGC had announced in March of last year that undergraduate admissions will be handled through a common entrance test and not on the basis of class 12 marks in all central universities.

The introduction of the CUET for PG admissions would begin with the 2022 academic session, according to UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar’s announcement in May of last year. He did note that, in contrast to the CUET-UG, the CUET-PG will not be required for the core universities.
