The university’s decision to offer BTech programs is the result of a comprehensive process that involved the formation of a committee in 2021 to study the feasibility and implications of introducing these courses. With an intake capacity of 120 students per program, a total of 360 students will be admitted in the first year.

Students will be exposed to a comprehensive understanding of their chosen discipline, with a minimum weightage of 50% given to the major subject area of study and a maximum weightage of 65%. The remaining weightage will be dedicated to the minor subject areas, allowing students to develop a broad knowledge base.

One of the significant advantages of the BTech programs at Delhi University is the flexibility they offer in line with the National Education Policy. Students will have multiple exit options based on their academic progress and the number of credits earned. After successfully completing one year of study, students will receive a certificate. Those who complete two years will be awarded a diploma, and those who complete three years will earn an advanced diploma. Finally, upon successful completion of the full four-year program, students will be awarded a BTech degree.

Infrastructure and Campus Logistics:

Delhi University recognizes the need for dedicated infrastructure to support the new BTech programs. A proposal has been submitted to the Union Ministry of Education for the construction of a separate building for the Faculty of Technology. However, until the new infrastructure is established, the university plans to make adequate arrangements for classrooms and laboratories within the existing campus. This temporary arrangement will ensure that students have access to the necessary facilities from the beginning of the program.

In terms of campus logistics, the departments of Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Electrical Engineering will be situated on the North Campus of Delhi University. This strategic placement provides convenient access to other faculties and departments, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and enhancing the overall learning experience.
