Are you getting ready for JEE exams? If so, then this news is for you. The pre-pandemic Class 12 performance criteria for admissions will once again be used by Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) starting with the upcoming session.
In light of the coronavirus pandemic’s unpredictability, the IITs relaxed the requirements for applicants’ performance in board exams in 2020. The shutdown forced a number of national and state boards to cancel their Class 12 school-leaving exams and substitute other evaluation methods.
According to sources, the IITs have decided to end the relaxation of entrance requirements based on performance on the Class 12 board exam as a result of the restoration of academic normalcy.
Prior to the pandemic, in order to be guaranteed a seat at an IIT, general category applicants with a qualifying JEE (Advanced) rank had to either have a Class 12 grade of at least 75% or place in the top 20 percentile of their class 12 results.
During a meeting last month, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) voted to reinstate the pre-pandemic Class 12 requirement. All decisions regarding how the JEE will be conducted are made by the JAB (Advanced). An official announcement will likely to be announced soon.
