Engineering is a field that is as vast as the expansiveness of opportunities that it provides. No matter what branch of engineering one chooses, it is proof that that individual is made of something extraordinary. Without a doubt, there is a lot of hard work, determination, and sincerity involved, but the life that awaits is a fulfilled one!

An engineer gets all the much-deserved respect and adulation not just from friends and family but also from peers and society! It is an achievement that will forever be cherished because a lot of grit goes into making an engineer. Late-night studies, an ever-growing tight schedule, but all of it is worth every ounce of sweat that you put in.

The beauty of engineering is that it is not restricted, as a profession. For example, if someone is air-minded, or if the services excite him/her, engineering will be a fit in every field that was thought of. Talking of services, The Indian Army Corps of Engineers is much celebrated and dates back to coming into existence, in 1780.  This provides combat engineering support, develops infrastructure for armed forces and various other defence organizations, and maintains connectivity along the borders, besides helping civil authorities during natural disasters. College of Military Engineering, Pune (CME) is the premier technical, and tactical training institution of the Indian Army Corps of Engineers.

In war,  combat engineers provide mobility to own forces by constructing bridges,  tracks, and helipads.  on the other hand, the Corps denies the same to the enemy by creating obstacles such as laying minefields and demolition of bridges. By 1780, serious attention began to be given to the art of sapping and mining. Sapping is the technique of accurately digging trenches, usually covered or zigzag, to cover one’s approach to the point of assault. Corps Of Engineers played a significant role in the Kargil War.

Indian Army Corps of Engineers is one of the largest construction and maintenance agencies in India, with a total annual budget of Rs. 13,000 Crores. Its many units and subunits are spread all across the nation.

In order to be a part of such a prestigious organization, it needs absolute passion to pursue the studies that will lead to the Corps. A sense of determination, love for the country, and immense faith in oneself, this is that road where success is inevitable.
