The National Testing Agency has released the JEE Main 2023 Information Brochure, which includes the JEE Main 2023 Marking Scheme for Paper 1 (BE, BTech), Paper 2A, and Paper 2B. (BPlanning). The specifics of the JEE Main 2023 scoring system for MCQ and numerical value type are provided below.
The following is the MCQ marking structure for JEE Main 2023:
- Candidates will receive four marks (+4) for the right answer.
- An incorrect response results in a mark deduction of one (-1).
- No mark (0) will be awarded if a question is left unanswered or tagged for review.
- Four points (+4) will only be awarded to those who marked one of the correct options if more than one option is determined to be accurate.
- All accurate responses will receive four (+4) points for each of the available answers.
- If a question is found to be left blank, a choice is determined to be erroneous, or if none of the options are accurate, full marks will be awarded to every candidate who showed up, regardless of whether they attempted the question or not.
Check out the crucial information about JEE Main 2023 Numerical Value below:
- Candidates will receive four (+4) marks for each accurate response.
- Each incorrect response will result in the loss of one mark (-1).
- If a question is left unanswered or tagged for review, no mark (zero) will be given.
- If a question is answered incorrectly or is dropped, four (+4) marks will be awarded. Technical or human error could be to blame for the issue.
- The applicants are urged to perform the calculations using the constants listed in the questions (if applicable). Round the result to the nearest whole number.
However, each topic (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) will have two sections in JEE Main Paper 1- BE, BTech, each with 90 questions and 300 marks. A total of 60 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) will be in Section A, and Section B will have 30 questions with numerical answers. Engineering applicants must attempt five of ten questions, and both sections A and B will receive negative markings.
In JEE Main Paper 2A- BArch, parts 1 and 2 of the question paper—mathematics and aptitude tests—will exclusively be administered by computer-based testing (CBT), while part 3 (the drawing test) will be administered via offline, pen-and-paper-based mode. This part will include approximately 82 questions worth a total of 400 marks. 20 questions will be multiple choice questions (MCQs), while 5 (five) questions will require responses to be entered as a numerical value, according to the JEE Main information pamphlet for 2023. Negative markings will be assigned to both Sections A and B.
Part 1 (Mathematics), Part 2 (Aptitude Test), and Part 3 (planning-based) of JEE Main Paper 2B–BPlanning will only be organized in computer-based test (CBT) mode. This section will consist of about 105 questions worth a total of 400 marks. Paper 2A and Paper 2B both use the same marking methodology.
