Now, all you student readers out there please don’t feel that this is yet another boring blog on ‘pujapaath’ or ‘bhajan keertan!’
It’s going to be a rather fun read, so stay with me, and read along!
So, we all have been brought up in some very typical environments, and mindsets. Many a time we like these, while sometimes they become quite a nuisance. Yes?
But there is something incredible that each one of you ought to know. You see, spirituality has got nothing to do with the religion that you practice. That is a choice we make, or it is an ongoing ritual that is apparently, followed through generations, and generations. Some may be astute followers of Ganesha, while others may feel a connection with Shiva, or Allah. Many of us feel protected in the name of Wahe Guru.
We will not be discussing which deity is superior because true faith does not need such qualifying attributes. Faith is faith, it’s just that simple! You either have faith, or you don’t! Having said that, let us get into something far deeper, and intriguing than the Gods, and Goddesses.
Many surveys have been carried out in schools and universities across the globe to identify if the students did or did not show any significant changes, academically, if/when the spiritual part was inculcated. We all know that not every institution teaches/explains the spiritual aspect of our existence. And so many people out there, relate spirituality with religion. But the reality is that spirituality is directly connected to the ‘psychology’ that each of us is tuned to. The elements that we can imbibe through spirituality help us in cleansing our psychological processes. Whatever goes around in our lives, good or bad, is a mirror reflection of how our psyche works.
In simpler words, whatever we think all day long, gets created into a defined reality. Let me tell you a small story here. So, there was this young fellow Sumit, who was exceptionally good in academics, sports and also had a very good heart. By good heart, I mean, that he was caring, considerate, and was always concerned about the other person’s happiness. He believed a lot in giving, and not just receiving. His brother, Amit on the other hand, was rather selfish, and very skeptical of other people’s intentions. He would always find faults and doubt the integrity of everyone around him. Amit would often tell Sumit, that why do you trust the whole wide world. To this Sumit would say, what you think, you become.’
And life was pretty rough for Amit.
I don’t think I need to tell you why his life was rough, or do I?
You see Sumit always tried to see the good things in life, in people, and, in situations. His outlook towards the people was more empathetic, and there was a nurturing about his personality. And all of this happened because he always had good thoughts to think about, even when the scenario was a bit offbeat, thanks to the presence of his brother!
Now, you must be wondering what has spirituality got to do here? The fact of the matter, as expressed earlier, is in tuning your thoughts/psyche, and that is what spirituality is about. Of course, there are other branches that each one of you must have heard about, if not practiced, like yoga, meditation, etc. but, you see, none of the above will work for you if your mindset is messed-up. You would not be able to meditate if your subconscious mind was busy finding faults with people around, or how bad he/she has been to you.
The purification of thoughts is what spirituality talks about. Your wisdom and insight are what needs to be pampered, rather than anything else. There is no need to get up and start practicing ‘surya namaskar’, etc. but please get the support of your purified thoughts, and then see the magic happen.
Your thoughts create an energy around you, that will attract or detract whatever comes into your environment. It is an aspect of quantum physics! If, for instance, you are preparing for competitive exams, and it’s a crucial year for you, all you need to do spiritually, is just drop any kind of doubts that are clouding you. Drop the thoughts like, ‘what if I don’t ace this exam, or, why don’t I skip the test this year, next year might be easier, so-on-and-so-forth!!
Whatever you are thinking, is becoming your reality!
