“One part at a time, one day at a time, we can accomplish any goal we set for ourselves.”

— Karen Casey

What would you be like ten years down the lane? Are you certain about the next action you’re about to take? How confident you are about cracking the upcoming JEE or NEET exam? Have you thought about the things you are going to accomplish by the end of the day?

Goals are dreams that when turn into atomic fragments contribute to life’s biggest event. Goals helps you win at any task you set your heart onto. Setting goals not only motivate you to succeed but also enhances your concentration whilst improving your focus. It helps you to take the steering wheel and drive towards the life you wish for. However, in order to attain your goals, you need to set them. Goal setting is a phenomenon which begins with a careful thought of what you want to achieve, and is backed with pool of hard work to truly work it out. By and between, there are few clearly defined steps that outdo the essentials of each goal. Realising these steps will let you frame goals that you can fulfil.

  • Set goals that motivate you: It is important to set goals that motivate you and relate to the high priority in your life. Motivation is the key to achieving goals. Goal accomplishment demands commitment, so to magnify the likelihood of success, you need to have a feeling of urgency and a sense of “I have to do this” attitude and only then, you’ll be able to breathe life to your goals.
  • Be specific: Ambiguity while setting goals will leave you confused thereby, allowing you to give up. It’s imperative to be specific in what you want to achieve. Your goals must be clear and well-defined. Your goals show you the way therefore, make it simple by specifically defining where you want to end up.
  • Make an action plan: Lay out all the steps to be taken along the way in order to reach your destination. Writing out particular steps, and then ticking each one off as you complete it, makes you realise about the progress you’re making towards your ultimate goal.
  • Set a time limit: Fixing a time frame help you set realistic goals. For an instance, if you want to complete the syllabus, list how many days it’d take for you to cover all that you want to.
  • Stick with your goals: Goal setting is a continuous journey. Set up reminders to keep yourself on track and take time out regularly to review your goals. Your destination may seem fixed over the long term but the action plan you set for yourself can alter significantly. Therefore, assure that significance, value, and requirement always remain high.

The main key to reaching your goal lies within your own will to become a better version of yourself. Even if you fail despite setting the goals, just know that you’re already on the right track. As long as you show commitment to change, grow and develop then there’s nothing that could deter you to be your absolute best. And just in case, you ever feel like giving up along the way, remind yourself why you started in the first place and how important it is for you- everything then, will probably fall in place.
