With COVID-19 prompting school closures, students across the country are compelled to study online. Momentary solutions being created for education range from online classroom tools like Teams, to Zoom and podcasts by teachers. Though teachers are adjusting to this new scenario, it’s also important to help students stay focused on learning and evade overuse of games, social media, and videos during this time.

Getting all excited about learning outside of the classroom can certainly be challenging- irrespective of whether you are encountering an unanticipated, extended school closure or a scheduled holiday.  Proper home-schooling measures must be adopted in order to make your learning from home productive and fun.

  • Design a space for learning: You will probably achieve your best in a quiet, comfortable and dedicated space especially made for your learning. So, design a space with your favourite motivational quotes, cornered with little plants and light which suits your choice.

  • Digital recess: Make sure that you take few breaks in order to move and keep some time away from the screens. Get up, get some fresh air, go for a walk or bike ride, grab your favourite snack, or listen to some music.

  • Make a plan: Good planning is the key to relieving stress. Make a schedule for the day after you wake up in the morning while creating goals that you would like to achieve by the end of the day or even a week. It’s important to reinforce boundaries.

  • Integrating hands-on educational activities: Inspiring yourself to have hands-on experience with the concepts or theories you are learning in school, coaching classes- with topics you find interesting can help you better understand the material. So, for example, if you’re struggling to make terms with a biology diagram, try illustrating it visually.

  • Learn with your besties: When you study together, you’re more like to retain information quicker and longer. Learning with your friends will also help you enhance your critical thinking and communication skills.
