The aforementioned articulation by Vincent Van Gogh metaphorically connotes the challenging life situations and the charm that entails. Here, the attempt is to glorify the seemingly irking impediments in one’s pathway. Having unexpected events in your life can indisputably bring some hues and relish in an otherwise bleak life. Certainly, the fun that there is in confronting the minor/major inconveniences has a peculiar flavor to it, so long as it is not accompanied by any mishap.

Facing some disruptions in our everyday course of life helps in widening our sphere of comprehension and also expands the human capability of seeing possibilities in things around us.

From this expression of Gogh, one can infer the importance and the credit given to the predicaments that we are presented with and what we take home from those scenes of life.

Normality, according to Gogh, can definitely be comforting, but what is emphasized is venturing out of it. Trying things that make you uncomfortable in the initial stage might sound ghastly but such discomforts tend to embolden us and help us broaden our boundaries.

Making ourselves well acquainted with the excitement and development that comes along with some unsolicited situations, let’s move our perspective a little and also illuminate the other side of the coin. Would life be any more exciting if we chose to stay not normal? This is a question that will have varied interpretations to it. Because for many being normal is boring! Right? And in order to widen our horizons, we have got to step out of our comfort zone and embark along roads less known, and less traveled. This is most relevant to the students who want it to take on to the world and make a difference in their lives, and in the lives of those around them. If one stays ordinary, or self-satisfied, it may/may not slow down the overall progress. This is a point that can be debated, but like I said earlier, the answers, and thoughts will be of incredible variations!

Although, it is a veritable thing that fighting difficult affairs gives us a sense of self-sufficiency, however, there is a delight in just the ordinary. This does not indicate one’s being passive, but only a feeling of complacency. Being at peace with leading a normal life strengthens one to be secure and refrain from unnecessary comparisons and competitions. Undoubtedly the challenges in life fortify our learnings and lead us to a possible new purpose, yet, often a meaningful life can be led in the midst of normality. What makes the difference is how diligently we are tending to our tasks and duties. After all, the extraordinary element brought by the unusual incidents also subsides after a period and things go back to as they were.

Encapsulating this episode, we must indomitably face the troubles of our life, taking away a lesson and scope for growth from them. Yet, magnifying the other facet, which shows the pleasantness when things are normal.

So are you the normal/ordinary, or do you have the audacity to grow flowers along the side of the road you walk?
