Baisakhi… A new beginning …..

Baisakhi is celebrated on April 13 or sometimes on April 14 as per the Gregorian calendar.

 It is a festival of the Sikhs to welcome their new year and also commemorate the formation of the Khalsa Panth of warriors under Guru Gobind Singhji in 1699. 

Vaisakhi or Baisakhi is also an ancient festival of Hindus, marking the Solar New Year and also celebrating the spring or Rabi harvest. 🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾🌾

Baisakhi is celebrated by offering prayers, taking out processions, raising the NISHAN SAHIB FLAG, fairs are held, and temples are decorated on this day. Some of the typical dishes are prepared on this day, including Kadhi, Kesar Phirni, Kada Prasad, etc. People wear bright, colorful clothes, bathe in sacred rivers and worship their devotees. The Sikh community visit Gurudwara to offer prayers. They read Guru Granth Sahib, and people do distribution of Karah Prasad. The Sikh community organizes langars to serve food to everyone. Regional Fairs are organized in communities, and people enjoy Punjabi Cuisines at stalls.

The Vaisakhi parade is led by the Pang(5) Pyaare, representing the ‘five beloved ones’ that were initiated into the Khalsa. One of the most prominent colors of Vaisakhi is saffron or Kesari. This shade of orange signifies courage, wisdom, and deep bliss, often associated with sentiments of martyrdom as well.

It is mainly a Sikh festival celebrated especially in Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh.

People enjoy Bhangra and Gidda with Punjabi dhols. The festival brings joy and happiness to everyone, and it is celebrated with peace and brotherhood.
