Dream Is Something Which Doesn’t Let You Sleep!

What does a dream mean to you?
Do your dreams awaken you, or do you love to sleep over them?
And most importantly…DO YOU EVEN DREAM?!
We have always heard stories from our parents, friends, relatives, etc, about focussing on ‘dreams’. Dreams to me are the sum of the individual that you claim to be! Dreams define you, yes, your dreams define you! They are the reflection of your potential and can be the strongest guiding force behind your eventuality.
In life, we do get bogged down once in a while. It could be due to various reasons.
It is not the end of the world if you are not able to achieve what you otherwise thought you would.
You see, your dream is more important than the stories you tell yourself as to why you can’t achieve it.
Your dream is more important than:
- Social media
- OTT platforms
- worrying
- procrastinating
- Being fearful
- The idiot-box
- reading the comments section…
The list is endless. But let me tell you one thing, and that is if you can learn the art of ‘prioritizing’, your life will be forever sorted! It is not necessary that your cut yourselves off from the whole world, distance yourself from the entertainment zone, etc! The ability to do what is important at that given moment in time is your respite and a sure shot guarantee to being a winner! Make time for everything, but know that your dreams are the most significant part of your lives, and anything that may prove to be a hurdle needs to be sidelined right there and then. Any distraction whatsoever isn’t a distraction until you give it that kind of importance.
SET REMINDERS FOR MAINTAINING FOCUS ON YOUR DREAMS
When you have your dream clear in mind, at the very forefront of your mind, it becomes much more difficult to ignore. If you are struggling with distractions, and you are not able to maintain the decorum, practice displaying your dream all-around your house! Sounds weird, right?
All you need to do is use sticky notes, and after writing your dream/plan/motivation on these tiny notes, stick them around your study area, bedpost, and wherever you possibly can. This really works. We do need to be reminded every now and then as to what is it that we are working towards. We ought to keep ourselves motivated at all times.
When you surround yourself with reminders of how important your dream really is, of what it really means to you and your heart, it becomes impossible to convince yourself that anything that drains your time without contributing to your life is worth giving up your dream for.
What is ‘procrastination’?
Procrastination is dilly-dallying or postponing a given work/task. The delay that is brought about by our own thought process is the most devastating procrastination, ever!
Nearly everyone has some degree of struggle with procrastination. My advice is not to beat yourself up when you procrastinate or find yourself being sucked into the vortex of social media/TV etc, but to become aware of what you’re trading for that time. If in all honesty, you need a break from focus, you simply need entertainment for a period of time, then by all means honor that, be real with yourself, give yourself a break and enjoy. But remember that it’s only a break!
One important key is to notice when you need these breaks and make an agreement with yourself. Set a boundary of how long you will allow yourself to procrastinate/ be distracted/ feel sorry for yourself, and stick to that boundary.
The most important part is to clearly declare your dream/ what you are working towards/ why you are working towards it/ what it really means to you and your life. Get to the heart of WHY you are focused on this dream. Write the reasons down on paper, and put the paper somewhere that you will see it multiple times a day. Each time you find yourself being pulled away by something that you know is unproductive and out of alignment with your dream, decide which is more important: the thing that is draining your time or the dream that is growing in your heart. Decide if the time-wasting activity is worth putting your dream aside… even ‘just for today.
Summary
#You are worthy of everything you have ever wanted#
The very fact that you are here, on this planet. The fact that you are a breathing, sparkling, beautiful being, is proof that you are worthy. Yes, you are worthy of everything that you ever dreamed of. Anything that derails your focus is what you need to work upon.
