According to a latest drive to bring quality medical education in the country, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided that all government medical colleges will provide MBBS undergraduate courses in Hindi and students will have the option to take exams in both Hindi and English. The introduction of medical instruction in Hindi in Madhya Pradesh was described as “historic” by our Honorable Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He further said that this initiative will help students’ a lot and help them overcome their “inferiority complex” as well.

The vision of our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s philosophy to replace the “brain drain” with “brain gain” seems fruitful. By restoring pride in our languages through the New Education Policy, which aims to provide technical, medical, and legal education across the nation, our union home minister foresaw an “educational revolution” (in regional languages).

Language is merely a means of expression, but intellectual ability is a natural talent that can be enhanced via education, and when education is provided in the mother language, it is extremely helpful in enhancing the intellectual capacity.

India is a country of diversity and Hindi is the language of all. Even our great heroes of the century like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, and other innumerable dignitaries chose Hindi language and Devanagari script as their main medium for propaganda, dissemination, addressing and writing. In the 75 years of independence, the contribution of the national language for the economic, educational and internal development of the country has been unprecedented. In the race of development, where our country has set many records in every field in the world, namely engineering, medicine, software development or in the world’s famous institutions (Google, Facebook), the country has become the world’s largest country by overtaking many developed countries of the world. India has emerged as a leading economy. With this new education policy, students from rural areas who previously struggled to enroll in medical schools due to a language barrier will not fall behind and will be able to complete the MBBS program in Hindi.

Shri Vishwas Sarang, the education minister for the state of Madhya Pradesh, stated that since instruction is provided in both Hindi and English in all schools outside of convent schools, we will also give students access to books in both languages. To make this step a success, the government has formed a team of 97 doctors who will translate the text into Hindi. A committee of 14 people was formed who would design the course accordingly.

While there is a wave of happiness in Madhya Pradesh due to this move, people all over the country are hopeful that after this initiative, possibly other states will also take important steps in this direction soon.

The Vidyamandir family applauds the extraordinary step taken by our administration, especially the government of the state of Madhya Pradesh, and sends its best wishes to all of the nation’s students.
