As per the latest report, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has published the academic calendar and guidelines for the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program. According to the academic calendar for 2022–2023 made public by NMC, the first-year MBBS batch will commence on November 15th, 2022. The commission also stated that colleges need to modify two blocks of electives of 15 days each for pre-paraclinical and clinical branches.

MBBS Academic Calendar for 2022-23

  • The MBBS First Year Course will be of 13 months, according to the notice that was published. This covers the entire instructional process, the exam, and the outcomes.
  • The third and fourth years have been split into Parts 1 and 2 by NMC. For a total of 10.5 months in the first section, students will study forensic medicine, toxicology, community medicine, and PSM.
  • Students will study topics including general surgery, general medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology, ENT, and ophthalmology in the second phase, which is the fourth year. Vacation and test schedules will be made public by the affiliated universities of the respected colleges, following the NMC’s announcement.

NMC MBBS Important Updates for 2022-23

  • The commission has also published a number of recommendations for medical schools and colleges.
  • There won’t be any additional batches, and the Yoga, family adoption program through village outreach will continue for 2021-22 batches.
