Regarding Admission to IIIT Hyderabad 2013

There is some confusion regarding the admissions to IIIT Hyderabad. I called up the admission cell of IIIT-H and the information they gave me is as follows:

There are two types of courses offered by IIIT H:

1. First is a four year undergraduate program, admissions for which will be done on the basis of JEE Mains 2013 marks. The candidates have to go for registration on the official website for IIIT Hyderabad 2013 Admissions. The forms for the same will be available in the month of March 2013 and information will be available on their website http://www.iiit.ac.in/
2. The other course offered by the institute is a 5 Year Dual Degree Programmes (after Class 12th).

• • B.Tech in Computer Science & MS by Research in Computational Linguistics (CLD)
  • B.Tech in Computer Science & MS by Research in Exact Humanities (EHD)

For this interested students have to register on their portal using the link (http://web2py.iiit.ac.in/ugei/default/user/register). There will be a exam conducted by the institute for admission to these course, in 5 metropolitan cities of the country.

Also, there are 7 IIIT (International Institute of Information Technology)

1. IIIT Gwalior was established by Government of India and was recently rechristened Atal Behari Vajpayee IIITM Gwalior.
2. IIIT Bangalore was part of the IT Policy of the Government of Karnataka (the first for any State government). IIIT-Bangalore created a unique model of focusing on graduate studies (Master’s and Doctoral programs)
3. IIIT Hyderabad and IIIT Bangalore follow a Public Private Partnership model with significantly larger participation from industry
4. IIIT Allahabad was started by Ministry of Human Resource Development (Govt. of India) .
5. IIIT Calcutta established in 2000 by Govt of West Bengal has been renamed to SIT (School of Information Technology) and has been made the Information Technology Department of WBUT(West Bengal University of Technology-Kolkata) in the year 2004.
6. IIIT Bhubaneswar has been established in 2007 The Management of the institute is in the hands of a Governing Board, consisting of representatives from the Government of Orissa, Leaders from the IT industry and eminent educationists
7. IIIT Pune is totally private run.

IIIT Delhi (Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi) is separate identity from known IIITs. Till last year admission to IIIT Delhi was done on the basis of marks of AIEEE and Class 12th marks. Interested students have to fill IIIT Delhi form separately. Forms are not available yet and there is no information on their website (http://www.iiitd.ac.in/) as of now.
