Computer science and engineering have shaped our future. It has not only changed our way of life, but it has also made it easier. The ability of machines to mimic human behavior is referred to as artificial intelligence (AI). It is primarily concerned with the theory and development of computer systems capable of performing various tasks that would otherwise require human intelligence. Visual perception, decision-making, speech recognition, and language translation are just a few examples. An AI engineer works with various algorithms, neural networks, and other tools to advance the field of artificial intelligence.

The popularity of data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning have prompted young minds to opt for advanced engineering in order to keep up with the pace of the rapidly changing trends of technology. The emergence of these courses urged popular engineering institutions to introduce these courses because the traffic only kept increasing. Premier establishments like IIT witnessed an upsurge of admissions in these particular fields. CSE (Computer Science Engineering) has traditionally been the favorite choice of top-ranking JEE students but the trend has diversified to other areas. 

Even though there are many universities and institutes that now offer diploma courses in AI, IIT Hyderabad is the only institute among the 23 IITs which offer a 4-year undergraduate(UG) program in AI. This newly introduced B-Tech in Artificial Intelligence course by IIT-Hyderabad saw roughly 60 out of 1,000 rankers opting for the course, which is a sign that students have realized the potential of AI as a career prospect. 

The study of computer software and hardware is referred to as computer science. The course covers theoretical knowledge of computer system software as well as its design and development. Programming languages (C, C++, Java, Python, and so on), computer architecture, networking, AI, systems security, database management, software engineering, human-computer interaction, graphical design, and many other topics are covered in Computer Science. Computer science also includes the creation of algorithms that can be used in a variety of applications to solve a variety of real-world problems. Artificial Intelligence Engineering, on the other hand, is a branch of computer science and engineering that deals with the study of machines’ intelligence and learning capability, which allows them to work like humans. Artificial intelligence is used in a variety of fields, including the implementation of learning and prediction to solve real-time problems such as speech recognition and face recognition. A machine with Artificial Intelligence can read and understand data based on its inputs and solve problems in real-time.

Not only do these career paths offer lucrative salaries and steady job growth, but a degree in either field can open the door to a variety of other opportunities. With a computer science degree, for example, you can advance from traditional database management or IT jobs to data analytics or cryptocurrency positions, as you learn how to apply statistical methods to large datasets using computational methods.

While these computer science and computer engineering degrees have similar courses and are both excellent choices for a successful technology career, there is one significant difference to be aware of. Computer science is primarily concerned with troubleshooting software issues. Expect to learn a variety of programming languages, as well as how to work with operating systems and maintain databases. Computer engineering is concerned with problem-solving and the design of hardware and software interfaces. Because computer engineers can be in charge of both software and hardware development and prototyping, there may be some overlap between degrees and job titles. With both degrees, students can specialize in concentrations within each discipline, such as cybersecurity, aerospace, or robotics.
